  1. I loved this story between two sisters: Liberty, who had to pretend everything was fine even when it wasn’t, and Billie, who slowly came to understand things and kept her own bravery up. I felt the characters were amazing, the setting was perfect, the plot was quintessential, etc.
One thing I loved was how easy it was to connect with the characters – and especially for me, it was easy to understand the father, although he seemed to be the “enemy” in the story (No spoilers about the end!).
Overall, this is definitely a Newbery winner and I recommend it for anyone in seventh grade up, and ages 13+.
