  1. Comment from Kayla:
Blackbird Fly was a lovely tale of an outcast Filipino girl overcoming through music and friendship. I appreciated how the author didn’t make Apple have a perfect life in the end. Instead, she made it realistic by saying that things never get entirely perfect but you can have happiness. You can see how each time Apple listens or plays music she gets certain strength from it. The setting was pretty realistic and easy to read. The characters were extraordinary and you could see Apple developing through her drop in popularity. I really enjoyed the story but, unfortunately, I’ve read better. I would recommend this to eighth grade girls.
