The Haunting of Sunshine Girl, by Paige McKenzie

Summary: Shortly after her sixteenth birthday, Sunshine Griffith and her mother Kat move from sunny Austin, Texas, to the rain-drenched town of Ridgemont, Washington. Though Sunshine is adopted, she and her mother have always been close, sharing a special bond filled with laughter and inside jokes. But from the moment they arrive, Sunshine feels her world darken with an eeriness she cannot place. And even if Kat doesn’t recognize it, Sunshine knows that something about their new house is just … creepy.

  1. I love this book based on her YouTube channel! (I was an avid watcher of it, so I’m not sure if my biased opinion should be counted.) I loved how clearly the setting was described so I felt that I was there, watching the plot unfold. The characters were amazing and I loved them. The plot was amazing; I can’t think of any other words for it. I totally think this is a Newbery winner, and that it’s been a lot more “distinguished” than most of my other books. Definite winner!
(Note for the author in case she sees this: Thank you so much for publishing this! I was waiting for such a long time and was ecstatic when this book appeared in our club. Keep up the good work!)
