  1. Comment from Kayla:
The Way to Stay in Destiny was a very typical novel. There is the mean family member that is his guardian, he doesn’t have his parents, he is talented, and there is kind neighbor. I feel like the author spent too much time on the uncle, leaving out all the other perfunctory characters. The friendship between Theo and Annabel seemed unrealistic since half the time they just teased each other. However, I really enjoyed reading about the uncle. His moods constantly changed and he had love and hate for understandable reasons (like a real person). Overall, I don’t think this book is distinguished enough for a Newbery award. Sixth or seventh grade boy might like reading this book.
