  1. I did not read the other books before this and this book still made perfect sense. I have never read a book like this especially with a setting like this. The setting was definitely the best part and the part that made this story interesting. I also liked how the author made you see how Moose’s sister was really like and what they went thorugh to live with her, but still made her likeable and at some parts, able to connect with. Also, the mystery in this book was a unique one that made sense. Altogether, this book is a good one and a fun read, but not my favorite so far.

  2. I have read the other books in this series, but if I had not this book would have made perfect sense. The characters were especially well described, and the plot was too. All of the settings that were relevant were well described, and the characters felt so real, you could practically see them in front of you. It is a fun read.

  3. This book definitely stands alone. I liked the setting and the plot. In some books that have prequels, the characters are already developed and you have no idea why they do what they do. But in this book the characters continued to develop and I really felt connected to them. However, I would call this more of a fun read than the Mock Newbery winner.
