  1. In the beginning, this book was kind of weird. Max had a bit too much sarcasm for my taste, and everyone was really critical. Later, towards the middle of the book, it felt like the author got into the groove of the book and it got better from there. I liked the setting: Merry Sunshine Orphanage (anything but merry or sunshine-y) and break-ins at museums. I thought the details about spies were interesting. I personally do not think that this book is Newbery, although it was interesting.

  2. In this book the main character max is very selfish and doesn’t want to listen to anyone. as you start to get farther into the book max starts to open up more and meets people he actually likes. the style of writing and the plot were both great features of this book. I think that this book could possibly win the newbery award.

  3. The character Max was as Olivia stated, too sarcastic. I think the author was trying to develop a character, but it was a little over the top. The beginning was kind of confusing because it sounded like Max burned it down. While it was an interesting read, it’s not enough for a Newbery.
