  1. I loved the characters in this book! I thought it was really clever how the author told the whole story of Rumpelstiltskin, how he got his straw-into-gold gift in the first place. I think in the original Rumpelstiltskin story, you kind of see him as the bad guy. Here, you understand that he was bound by magic, that he didn’t really want to take the queen’s firstborn child. Great book!

  2. I really liked the theme of this book which was that a name can hold your destiny. The characters definitely developed, as they realized their true selves. The plot wasn’t extraordinary, but I liked the setting. Right now, I’m undecided if it is Newbery quality.
