  1. I really liked this book. It was a well written twist of the fairytale of “Toads and Diamonds”. I liked how Cat used her “gift” to play a prank on her step-sister. I didn’t really connect with the main character Cat. Though I love the plot, I just never really connected with the book. It felt fast paced and certain parts seemed kind of random and needed a connecting part when there was none. One part especially felt rushed through and almost skipped over. Over all I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to a friend but I don’t think that it is Newbery worthy. I would recommend this book for middle school girls.

  2. I agree with Claire, I don’t exactly connect with the book or characters. The characters do have personalities though, and even though it is a fairy tale, it is set in modern times. One thing that really confuses me is that the main characters sister is 12 and she is five feet and eight inches! I enjoyed the book, but it is not for a Newbery.

  3. The story was very exciting. I didn’t like that they acted that the stepsister was so terrible to the main character, but the main character was just as bad.
