  1. I really enjoyed the character development in the first book in this series, Crispin: The Cross of Lead, which won the 2003 Newbery Award. Although it was interesting to read about the further adventures of Crispin in Crispin: The End of Time, I didn’t see that award winning level of character development in this book. In fact, several of the characters were one dimensional, and one was sort of jettisoned off early in the book. But Crispin fans will still enjoy this.
