  1. This was an interesting book, except it made up a lot of word. I couldn’t keep track of how many Schmidt made up. I didn’t realize that they were made up words until the end of the book, I just thought some of them were real words I never heard of before. I found a glossary at the back of the book, so I suggest to the author to put it at the front of the book. The writing was descriptive, but the characters seemed a little flat. So I don’t think this could win the Newbery.

  2. Overall, not such a great book. I did ‘like’ the book, but I didn’t overall enjoy reading it, and would not want to read it again.

  3. I agree, the character development was not that great. I enjoyed the book, but I thought that the end was sort of anti-climactic. I saw the glossary in the table of contents, so I read that first. It helped a little bit, but not enough. I had to keep looking back at the glossary. I don’t think this book is a competitor for Newbery.
